What does faith mean to you? How do you live it out? On Sunday we talked about following our Shepherd and about how nothing can snatch us out of God’s hand. Do you believe this in your heart of hearts? One of the great ways in which I have come to know the Shepherd’s voice and the provision of my God is through the learning/accountability groups I am part of.
Twice a month I meet with a clergy book study group. We read the same book, talk about the book, and seek to grow in our understanding of the Lord and the ministry he has called us to. We always end in prayer and pray for the needs of one another. The second group I am a part of is an accountability group. I meet with three other clergy twice a month. We talk about our lives, our holy habits, the areas we are growing in and the areas we need to grow in. We hold each other accountable in our Christian walk and we always end in prayer for each other and our ministries.
What groups are you part of that help you to grow in the Lord? Do you attend Sunday School, Bible Study, a fellowship group, or something else? Often times if we don’t have one of these in our lives we are not growing in the Lord. There is nothing in our lives to challenge us in our understanding of who God is, how God is working in our lives and who God wants us to be. I want to challenge each of you to get involved in a study group here at the church. It will help you to learn of the Lord and to grow in the Lord. None of us are who God wants us to be. We are still growing and becoming like Christ. How will you take the steps today to grow in the Lord and become that holy and sanctified person that God has called you to be?
Along the Journey,
Anyone interested in attending the Adult Retreat is invited to sign up with the church office. We will gather at 7pm on Friday, May 10th at Jumonville. We will spend Friday evening playing games, having a camp fire and getting to know each other. Saturday will be filled with a walk to the cross, a walk to green cathedral, and a study on Esther. We will look at what it means to be called of God for such a time as this. We will eat both breakfast and lunch on Saturday at the Inn. We will close our time out together by 3pm with worship and communion. If you have any questions about the retreat please see Pastor Jude. The cost of the Retreat is $65 per person. Scholarships are available. Currently there are only five rooms available.
Roastbeef Dinner Update
We want to thank the many people who helped out with the roastbeef dinner this year. At the end of it all we made a profit of $511. Thank you all for your efforts in raising this money and reaching out into our community to share the love of Christ.
