Monday Musings (4/15/13)

Good Morning Friends,

I pray that you are having a blessed day. In worship on Sunday we read the familiar story of Peter being reinstated by Jesus. Jesus asks him 3 times if he loves him more than these. Peter answers all three times that he does. After each of Peter’s responses Jesus then says, “feed my sheep” at the end of their conversation Jesus says to Peter, “follow me”. This is the last major conversation that is written about between Jesus and Peter. Jesus here is calling Peter, and all of us, to do three things:
1. Love him more than these (what is your these?) – We are called to love Jesus more than anything else in our lives. He is to be our first, our utmost, and our everything.

2. Feed his sheep – We are called to reach out to the lost and needy of our world. We are called to feed them as Jesus fed his disciples in the story mentioned above. First he fed them physically with fish and bread. Then he fed them spiritually through the spiritual conversation they had around the fire.

3. Follow Him – We are called to live as Jesus lived, do what Jesus did, and answer God’s call upon our lives as disciples. Jesus answered his call by going to the the cross for you and me.

In the week ahead how will you Love Jesus, Serve Jesus, and Follow Jesus each minute of each day.

Along the Journey,
Pastor Jude

Adult Retreat
Anyone interested in attending the Adult Retreat is invited to sign up with the church office. We will gather at 7pm on Friday, May 10th at Jumonville. We will spend Friday evening playing games, having a camp fire and getting to know each other. Saturday will be filled with a walk to the cross, a walk to green cathedral, and a study on Esther. We will look at what it means to be called of God for such a time as this. We will eat both breakfast and lunch on Saturday at the Inn. We will close our time out together by 3pm with worship and communion. If you have any questions about the retreat please see Pastor Jude. The cost of the Retreat is $65 per person. Scholarships are available. Currently there are only five rooms available.

We Are Blue!
For the past two weeks the outside lights of the Ed. Wing have been blue. The reason for this is that April is Autism Awareness Month. We have many in our church family that fall on the autism spectrum. Going blue for them these past two weeks has been our way as a church community to say we love you and we support you along your life journey. This Saturday the lights will be switched back as we begin to exit out of the month of April.

Blue Grass Concert
Don’t forget we have an amazing Bluegrass Concert at our church this Saturday at 7:30pm. Come hear these amazing gentlemen from Virginia as they share their talents and love of music with us. There is no cost for this event but a love offering will be received for the group. If you have any questions about the event please contact Brad or Melanie Sandrock

Work Day This Saturday
For anyone who is interested in joining them our Confirmation Class and MOPs group will be working outside on the church property cleaning up and replanting some bushes this Saturday from 9am to noon. If you would like to help please show up and/or give Pastor Jude a call.
