Monday Musings (7/16/12)

Dear WHUMC Church Family,

Yesterday in worship I talked about being a local Evangelist in your world. In short, sharing Jesus in what you say and what you do. I challenged those in attendance to pray for those people with whom they are being led to share Christ with before they actually do it. I challenged them not to run a head of what God was doing but to wait upon the Lord and to allow him to lead. I pray that you are being a Christ sharer in your world. You have family, friends, neighbors and co-workers who need to hear about Jesus. It is as simple as sharing your own faith story. Maybe you might even invite them to come to church with you this Sunday! Today, I have a simple question for you. Who are you praying for and with whom will you share Jesus this week? He has meant life to you and he will mean life to those around you. Amen.

I want to remind you that this week our North East Jurisdictional Conference is happening in Charleston, WV. Please be in prayer for the 28 delegates from our Annual Conference who are attending and all the other delegates from the 9 other Annual Conferences across our jurisdiction. The Rev. Eric Park and the Rev. William Meekins are both candidates for Bishop. We will elect a total of 3 bishops and there are total of 19 nominees. You can keep up to date on what is going on by visiting The balloting process will start on Wednesday. By Friday we will know if Bishop Bickerton is returning as our Bishop or whether we will have a new Bishop as of September 1st.

Every month in our Out of the Winds newsletter we print for you our monthly finances so that you as a church can be aware as to the health and statues of the ministry here at WHUMC. I will be touching on this more at my State of the Church address on Sunday, July 29th. I wanted to let you know however where we are with the General Fund to this point for July. Thus far we have received around $8,280 in the first three Sundays in the offering. We have needed however $9,957 to meet our 2012 budget for this month. This means so far we are $1,677 short. In the next two weeks we need to receive a total of $8,315 to meet our budget for the month of July. Please pray about what you give to the Lord, so that ministry here at WHUMC can continue in this region. Please remember that if you are away, you can always mail your offering to the church office.

I mentioned earlier about the State of the Church address on Sunday, July 29th. This will happen at the end of our fellowship meal. On that day there will be a combined service at 10am with the meal following that service at 11am. We are encouraging all of our church folks to come and be in attendance. It is always wonderful to worship and fellowship as one body and the address that I will be giving is very important to the future ministry of this church. If you can be here please make sure that you are. If you have not signed up yet for the meal, you can do so this Sunday or you can call the church office to reserve your spot.
